Role of Women in Leading Change:Applied Study on Working Women Organizations in Jordan

The main objective of this study was to explore the role of Jordanian women in leading organizational change. The study also aimed to get awareness about the characteristics of leadership skills, the change strategies that women possess/use and their impact on women’s capabilities in leading change in Jordanian organizations. To meet the objectives of the study, a relevant questionnaire was designed and distributed to all employees in about 18 women’s organizations operating in Jordan, from which (254) questionnaires were suitable for analysis and discussion. The study main findings are as follows: • There is a positive statistical impact of women’s leadership characteristics on women’s role in leading organizational change. • There is a positive statistical impact of women’s leadership skills on women’s role in leading organizational change. • There is a positive statistical impact of women’s change strategies on women’s role in leading organizational change. • Jordanian women possess high change leadership capabilities in organizations which they operate and manage.....

The Extent of Application of Quality Standards and Quality Assurance by AL-Ahliyya Amman University from Faculty MembersPerspective

This study aimed to identify the extent of the application of quality standards and quality assurance in Al-Ahliyya Amman University in Jordan from the perspectives of faculty members at the university. Moreover, it aimed to investigate the effect of college and experience on the perceptions of faculty members. The study was conducted during the first semester of the 2011/2012 academic year. The study sample consisted of (110) faculty members working in humanities and scientific faculties. To achieve objectives of the study, a questionnaire was developed. It consisted of (45) items to measure the degree of application of quality standards and quality assurance in Al-Ahliyya Amman University. The validity of the instrument was tested by distributing the questionnaire to a panel of experts. The reliability of the questionnaire was demonstrated by Cronbachs alpha of (0.847). The results showed that the level of the application of quality standards and quality assurance in Al-Ahliyya Amman University was high with a mean equals (3.72). Additionally, the study results indicated that there are no statistically significant differences in faculty members perceptions that might be attributed to either faculty or experience......

The Efficacy of Group Guidance Program Depending on Elliss Theory of Irrational Thinking in Reducing Depression and Improving Adjustment for Eleventh Grade Students in Amman City

The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy of Group Guidance Program depending on Elliss Theory in irrational thinking in reducing depression and improving adjustment for eleventh grade students in Amman city. The population of this study consisted of all students in eleventh grade, (103) students. To indentify the objectives of the study, the sample which consisted of (30) students was chosen purposefully. It was divided into two groups: an experimental group which received Group Guidance Program and a control group which was not exposed to the program. Causes of Academic Underperformance in Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) as Evaluated by Hindrance Students

The study aims to identify the evaluation level of academic underperformance causes from the perspective of hindrance students at Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU), and the relation between these causes and other variables: sex, type of faculty and students’ academic year. To achieve this purpose, the analytical descriptive methodology was used, and a questionnaire which consisted of three domains of causes of academic underperformance was prepared. These domains were: the educational (academic) domain, students personality and social relationships, and family and economic status. For this reason a sample of (133) male and female students was chosen by the intentional method. The study showed that the level of causes behind academic underperformance of Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) students according to total tool was moderate; likewise, students individual assessments of these causes for each domain of the tool were moderate. The domain concerning educational (academic) difficulties came in the first rank, difficulties concerning students personality and social relationships came second, and difficulties related to family and economic status came in the third rank. There were significant statistical differences of the sex variable, the significance was in favor of females; there were significant statistical differences of the faculty variable (sciences/arts), the significance was in favor of the students in scientific faculties’ and there were significant statistical differences of the academic year variable, the significance was in favor of first and second year students......

Rhythm Aesthetics in Islamic Art

Rhythm is considered the common ground shared by all types of arts and the cornerstone on which the aesthetic value is achieved and judged. Furthermore, the concept of Rhythm, in the sense of harmony that is, is based on the contents of art itself ,i.e., on the effect of similarity, symmetry, redundancy, diversity and compliance that make the artistic and creative accomplishment formed in a simple, compound or a complex method. Art derives the elements of rhythm from life and its modes starting from the beats of time reaching to the beats of heart. Then it clearly molds and takes its final shape in the accomplishments of the creative art. This is reflected by the aesthetic effect the work of art has on everybody, even if relatively, without exception. Besides the fact that rhythm reflects the character, identity and characteristics of the artist and consequently his artistic work, it affects the heart beats of the human being and leads him to a better appreciation of art. In this study, the researcher deals with issues that are related to rhythm and its effect on art. He discusses the role of rhythm in achieving a distinguished work of art, differentiates among types of rhythms and identifies each type. Mandative Subjunctive in Arabic Syntax: A Minimalist Study

An Arabic sentence is dealt with in this article as SVO at spell-out and VSO at the logical form (LF). Thus, the objective of this study is to check the grammaticality of the mandative subjunctive structure in the absence of a case assignor for the nominative case. It also checks the relevant syntactic and semantic formal and informal features that support the grammaticality of mandative subjunctive at LF. To achieve the objectives, the researcher refers to Chomsky’ s (1981, 1986a, 1986b and 1995) Minimalist Views and Radford’ s (1988) Empty Tense Theory. The problem is to find out the actual nominative case assignor for the subjunctive subject in the absence of an overt tense. The study illustrates that the only case assignor for the nominative case in these types of structures in Arabic is the empty tense [e]. The formal features ([T],[D-], [P-] and [’an]) are proved to be parts of numeration, and they have [+interpretable] features at LF; however, informal features, namely, (nominative case, theta-marking and Agrs”) are not. The study concludes that the complementizer ’ an ‘that’ and the subjunctive marker [a] are necessary to be overt for the grammaticality of the subjunctive sentence. It is proved that a mandative subjunctive sentence occupies an argument position and must be theta marked at spell-out to render a well-formed sentence at the logical form. The study is significant because the researcher found syntactic solutions to the grammaticality of these types of structures in Arabic syntax......
