Abstract

This research, namely, The Literature of Food in the Abbasid Period evolves around part of what was said with regard to food and drink during the Abbasid period, either depicting or praising them. There is absolutely no doubt concerning what was mentioned on this subject reflects various types of peoples behavior, as well as their lifestyles during that era. It also reflects their traditions as to their eating and drinking. It is understood that the social backgrounds of many poets-who were deeply involved in such issues in their poetry -were behind their great fondness of eating, which could be related to two reasons. Firstly, because they lacked food, due to being poor, secondly, because they were able to obtain it, due to being well off financially. This paper tackles numerous types of poetical patterns, which the researcher was able to analyze. she (the researcher) believes that this process would help in exploring the poet’s world and would reveal the hidden sides of the text itself as well
